Jann E. Leeming
After graduating from URI with a double major in Psychology/Business and Babson College with an MBA, Jann started her professional career at The Venture Capital Fund of New England with 8 years investing in high technology companies located in New England.
Jann left the institutional world of venture capital to run her own company for 2 years. Leeming Investment Company invested in companies owned and operated by women.
When one of those investments, About Women, Inc. a consulting firm and publisher of "Marketing to Women", needed stronger management, Jann became its CEO. In that position, Jann became a leading expert on US. women's lifestyles and purchasing habits, was a regular contributor on NPR and appeared on CNN’s Market Report. She was also on BMW’s outside Women's Board. Other consulting clients included several marketing executives from Fortune 1000 companies. While at About Women, Jann co-authored “Segmenting the Women’s Market”, a resource book for companies selling products and services to women. After nine years the company was sold.
Jann then partnered, for 10 years, with her husband as Co-Owner and Operator of an upscale, 18 hole golf facility located in Parsonsfield, Maine. Province Lake Golf employed 55 people during its busiest seasons. Jann was in charge of marketing, accounting and Club House operations. The course was sold in 2005.
Presently, Jann is a full time philanthropist who uses her marketing, accounting and management expertise in supporting organizations in the performing arts, education and the environment.
Jann is a firm believer in Non Profit Board participation. She is currently on the Executive Board of Celebrity Series of Boston and is a Founding Member of History Matters/Back to the Future. Past Board participation includes: Women's Project Theater, Chair; Mint Theater, Chair; Playwrights Horizons, Board; Boston Ballet, Board; Dance Umbrella, Board. Jann was also a Founding Member of the Kennedy School's Female Leadership Board.
